HORSE RIDING PROGRAMS FOR SCHOOLS AND GROUPS
Valley Park Riding School welcomes primary and secondary schools from across Melbourne to bring horse riding into the school week. Less than 30 minutes from the CBD in Templestowe, we run riding classes for school groups as a weekly sport option, a single day excursion or a term long program built around your curriculum.
WHY SCHOOLS ADD HORSE RIDING TO THEIR CURRICULUM
Riding builds balance, coordination and core strength, but the real lessons happen on the ground. Students learn to read a horse's body language, follow clear safety routines and stay calm under pressure. For many students it's the first time they've been responsible for an animal larger than themselves, and the confidence that comes from that carries back into the classroom.
LINKED TO THE VICTORIAN CURRICULUM
Our school programs support learning across Health and Physical Education (movement skills, fitness and personal safety), Personal and Social Capability (teamwork, communication and resilience), Science (animal biology, nutrition and horse care) and outdoor education. We're happy to work with your PE coordinator or year level team to shape sessions around your learning outcomes.
PROGRAM OPTIONS
Weekly school sport: a riding class at the same time each week across a term, with structured goals from leading and grooming through to walk, trot and beyond.
Single day excursions: a riding lesson, horse care and groundwork, ideal for a year level reward day or end of term activity.
Horse care and groundwork classes: unmounted sessions covering grooming, feeding, handling and stable routines, a good fit for younger students or larger groups.
Equine assisted learning: small group sessions for students who benefit from a calmer, more personal setting.

Primary and secondary schools, homeschool groups, youth groups and community organisations across Manningham, Doncaster, Box Hill, Eltham and Melbourne's eastern suburbs. No riding experience needed.
