What ages is the holiday program for?

Our holiday programs are designed for children ages 5-13 of ALL riding abilities.

What time does the program run?

January & Easter holidays our program runs from 9.00am til 3.00pm.

Mid year and September holidays our programs runs from 10.00am til 4.00pm

What is 'Farm Experience?'

Our unique Farm Experience program allows students to learn about horse care and the day to day running of the riding school. They will have the opportunity to assist with catching, feeding, rugging and putting the horses away for the night. Farm Experience MUST be booked prior to the day, and a small charge applies.

Farm Experience runs in both the morning and the evening at the following times (this varies depending on season)

Spring/Summer holidays 8.00am-9.00am and 3.00pm-5.00pm

Autumn/Winter holidays 8.00am-10am and 4.00pm-5.00pm

Do you offer a discount if I book multiple days?

Bookings of (a) 3 or more days, or (b) 3 or more children from the same family, into any of our Holiday Programs attract a 5% discount. Our syllabus changes daily so there is minimal chance of children doing the same thing every day - plus we can assign your child different horses, further enhancing their experience.

Who will be looking after my child?

We offer a supervised environment with experienced instructors and staff, many of whom hold additional qualifications from Horse Safety Australia.

Will my child ride more than one horse on the day?

We assign your child one pony or horse that we carefully select based on your childs riding ability. They will  care for and ride this horse throughout the entire day.

How is the day structured?

The day consists of practical handling and horse management theory with a minimum of 3 hours of riding time per day. Generally, the structured riding component takes place in the morning, with mounted games or similar in the afternoon.

If during the day the weather deteriorates and it becomes unsafe to ride (storms, extreme heat etc) VPRS reserves the right to deliver equestrian based theory/games/indoor activities in lieu of riding. We do ride in the rain, however should conditions become unsafe riders will be required to dismount.

What should I wear to the holiday program?

Please wear long pants such as jodhpurs or tracksuit pants. We kindly request that you avoid wearing jeans as the thick seams damage our leather saddles. NO shorts or skirts.

Please wear a long or short sleeved top that is appropriate for the weather. We suggest a collared polo shirt in summer – NO singlets.

Your shoes must be fully enclosed with a small heel. Riding boots or gumboots are ideal. NO sneakers. We have a small number of riding boots available should you not have suitable footwear at home.

In winter please bring a waterproof jacket – we still ride in the rain!

What does VPRS provide?

We provide helmets to all riders and have a small number of riding boots available to borrow – we cannot guarantee the availability of all sizes so please endeavour to wear suitable footwear. You are welcome to bring your own riding helmet providing that it is currently in compliance with Australian Standard 3838.

VPRS has a wide range of merchandise available for purchase including helmets, boots, jodhpurs and safety vests from our office.

What should I bring?

The most important thing that you need to bring with you is a completed VPRS Consent & Indemnity form. This would have been sent to you in an email confirming your booking.

Apart from your form, we suggest you bring:

  • A labelled water bottle

  • Sunscreen and hat (in warmer months)

  • Waterproof jacket (in cooler weather)

  • Lunch and Snacks – please ensure that you follow school protocol regarding allergens

PLEASE ensure all of your belongings are clearly labelled.

Is parking available?

There is very limited parking available at the top of the property in O'Briens Lane. Motor vehicles are NOT permitted to enter the property unless prior authorisation is received from Trish Boys (Proprietor). We suggest car pooling with your group buddies where possible.

How do I check in on the day?

Please come down the driveway and make your presence known at the office. Our yard staff will assist you from there. If you are coming for your first lesson or holiday program, please arrive 15 minutes early to ensure all the correct paperwork has been filled out and that we can take the time to give you a quick rundown of how the day will proceed.

Can I watch my child?

Of course! We have an undercover seating area near the main arenas, and a small viewing area and bench by the lower arena.

What if it rains?

Our lessons operate in all weather conditions - including rain. We do however cancel our parties if the temperature exceeds 38 degrees OR there is a severe weather warning in place. We will always endeavour to notify you if we need to cancel as early as possible.

What if I need to cancel?

VPRS has a very strict cancellation policy. Please familiarise yourself with this PRIOR to confirming your booking.
